International Women's Day 2023

KGVOA celebrated International Women's Day with 'Samanwya-2023' Thodupuzha: On March 8th, the Kerala Government Veterinary Officers Association (KGVOA) held a state level function 'Samanwya-2023' to mark the International Women's Day. The event, which focused on the theme of 'Equity as means to Equality', was attended by 120 women veterinarians from across the state. The function was inaugurated by Roshan Thomas, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Thodupuzha, and presided over by Dr. R. Usha, the State Vice President of KGVOA. Several dignitaries, including Dr. Dilip Chandran, the State President of KGVOA, Dr. Kuriakose Mathew, the General Secretary of KGVOA, Dr. Jaya Chandy, the Organizing Chairperson of the event, Dr. Aneeta George, the General Convenor of the event, Bindhu Pathmakumar, a Municipality Counsellor, Neena Nair, a member of Rays of Voice foundation, Dr. K R. Meera, Dr. Annie Thomas and Prince J. Pannanal, an advocate, also graced the occasion. The event honoured some of the outstanding women veterinarians in the state, such as Dr. Jessy K. George, Dr. Safna Issac, and Dr. Maria Lukose. Ms. S. Swetha, who won the State award in Journalism, was also felicitated at the event. The highlight of the function was a short documentary that showcased the long journey of women veterinarians in Kerala, prepared by Dr. Mariyamma Thomas and Dr. Shyju. The documentary was an inspiration to all the participants. A literary souvenir that featured the works of veterinarians from all over Kerala was also released at the event. The function concluded with a human chain formed by all the participants ,who took an oath to work towards empowering women in their work and social spheres.
